Professional Standards

The Royal College of Anaesthetists is dedicated to promoting and maintaining the highest standards of practice in anaesthesia, critical care and pain medicine. 'Professional Standards' relates to how well a service is delivered, both at departmental level and by individual members of the anaesthesia team.

The Professional Standards Department is responsible for setting standards for career grade anaesthetists and providing guidance on how to meet these standards. The work of the Directorate is multifaceted, covering many important areas as set out below.
