Overview
The program will include informative presentations about the current “state of play” with respect to the NIAA, UKCRN and other relevant initiatives as well as new projects that represent opportunities for collaboration and plenty of discussion time.
Why?
Shared Goal: Improve the care of patients undergoing surgery within the UK
By: Conducting research to improve:
- Preoperative risk description and care planning
- Intraoperative care
- Postoperative care and outcome monitoring
In the short to medium term this goal is best achieved by development of the UKCRN portfolio for Anaesthesia/Perioperative Medicine through national collaborative studies.
What?
The aim of this meeting is to:
- Identify projects suitable for pilot collaborations
- Develop an organisational structure to facilitate collaboration
- Develop a culture to sustain this collaborative structure
- Develop infrastructure to support collaborative research
