2010 Anaesthetics CCT Curriculum update

The General Medical Council (GMC) has confirmed approval for the next iteration of the 2010 Anaesthetics CCT Curriculum. This will take effect from Wednesday, 3 August 2016.

Version 1.7 of the 2010 curriculum is now available online here and reflects the changes outlined in the annual summary of changes submitted to the GMC.

The following changes are included:

• Revision of wording in the main CCT Curriculum document. The document has been condensed, repetition has been removed and certain sections have been moved around so that the information flows better. NB The essence of the document has not changed at all.
• ‘Basis of Anaesthetic Practice’ now known as ‘Introduction to Anaesthesia’ to reduce confusion.
• ‘Basic’ level training now known as ‘Core’ level training.
• New units of training in Perioperative medicine at all levels (mandatory up to and including higher).
• Revision of the Military Anaesthesia unit of training.
