Dr Carol Pellowe is a retired nurse whose career spanned practice, education and research both in the UK and abroad. Specialising initially in AIDS and HIV Care and she headed the AIDS Education Unit for the North West Thames Region. Later Carol moved into infection prevention and co-authored the first national evidence-based infection prevention guidelines for acute care settings in England and Wales and the NICE guidelines for primary and community care. An active member of the Infection Prevention Society, coordinating the education and professional development committee and serving on the Board. In 2018 she was presented with the Brendan Moore Award for my contribution to the society and infection prevention nationally and internationally.

Areas of involvement in College work include being chair of the lay committee, member of the lay committee of Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AoMRC), Bulletin Editorial Board and simulation committee.
