Biography

Dr Jamie Strachan is a specialty trainee in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine in the Thames Valley and has been on RCoA Council since March 2018. His clinical interests are in areas such as resuscitation, critical care and transfer of the critically ill patient; helping large teams to work effectively together. Jamie enjoys trying to improve my own communication skills be it with colleagues, patients or families. He believes in the critical importance of good behaviour in the work place, and valuing the people with whom we work.Jamie also enjoys improving the interface between technology and clinical medicine, working on Lifelong Learning for the College from its inception and continuing to contribute to its development.

When he stood for Council he said: 'pressures such as increasing demands on time, high levels of expectation, shift working, frequent changes of place of work with relatively and actually less remuneration (financial or otherwise) than the generation above us can make training seem overwhelming. The College can and should make our training and working lives better.' Jamie trie to pursue things that meet this aim.
