Our popular ‘After the Final FRCA’ event comes to Scotland for the first time in January. Open to all trainees, SAS doctors and trainers, the event will give you information and guidance on how to make most of your training time after completing the final FRCA.

Find out more about how to develop a specialty interest, how to build your portfolio to make you a competitive candidate for a consultant post, and how to get a job that you will find fulfilling, and which will offer you new opportunities.

The day will consist of short, interactive talks from people who’ve been there before you, and have a wealth of helpful advice to give.

Items include:

  • The Years ahead
  • How I became a specialist, or not: Subspecialties versus generalism
  • Pain medicine: It can be done
  • How I became a Teacher Trainer Researcher
  • Management and leadership opportunities for trainees
  • How to do a QI Project
  • How and why to become a rep
  • Perioperative Medicine: A new career?
  • OOPT, year abroad and fellowships
  • How to manage training as a LTFT trainee
  • How to get that perfect job
  • The first few years after training
