This Tracheostomy Masterclass is a comprehensive education day, led by a multidisciplinary team of experts, covering all the major issues from tracheostomy insertion to decannulation.

The general structure of the day involves round-the-table seminars in the morning, covering all the basics of tracheostomy care including an overview of the NCEPOD report and notable incidents. During the day you will also have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with a range of tracheostomy equipment. A consultant ENT surgeon will run a session on more complex surgical cases, such as tracheo-malacia and tracheal stenosis, and a senior speech therapist will discuss swallowing, communication and weaning. Emergency algorithms will be covered in the afternoon, followed by three simulation sessions.

By the end of the workshop delegates should feel much more prepared to troubleshoot issues and manage emergencies.

Suitable for anaesthetic consultants and ST3+ trainees.
