Professor Cyprian Mendonca - CCL
Consultant Anaesthetist | University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust

Professor Cyprian Mendonca is a consultant Anaesthetist at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust.  He is an honorary professor at the University of Warwick. His special interests include head & neck anaesthesia, airway management, neuroanaesthesia, human factors and medical education.

He has organized and successfully delivered several educational events including advanced airway management and human factors and patient safety courses. He is an academic lead for core clinical education at Warwick Medical School. He was awarded President’s commendation certificate from Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2016 and 2021 and Featherstone professorship from Association of Anaesthetists in 2016 for his sustained contribution to education and research.  He has authored six books in anaesthesia and written chapters in the anaestheisa textbooks. He has published a series of peer reviewed papers in advanced airway management and education.

Professor Tom Wainwright
Professor of Orthopaedics | Bournemouth University

Professor Tom Wainwright is a physiotherapist, clinical academic and quality improvement specialist with a broad range of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal related research interests. He is internationally recognised for his work on Enhanced Recovery and ranked in the top 10 global experts (www.expertscape.com). 

He has a proven track record of leading research and professional practice, with over £2.5million of grant income as PI, over 100 peer-reviewed publications in the last 5 years, and he is a frequently invited international keynote speaker. 

Tom is a passionate about improving patient outcomes and works internationally with other healthcare providers to improve the quality of care through teaching and consultancy. The Institute of Consulting named him as the 2010 Young Consultant of the Year, and he continues to provide consultancy services to medical industry partners.

Dr Shyam Balasubramanian

Dr Shyam Balasubramanian is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine in Coventry.

He has an interest in medication safety and is the Pharmacology and Prescribing lead for Warwick Medical School.

Shyam has previously served as an editor for BJA Education and has authored books & chapters on Pain Management.
