The RCoA Leadership and management series covers a spectrum of topics designed specifically for anaesthetists that are senior trainees and consultants
The RCoA Leadership and Management series covers a spectrum of topics designed specifically for anaesthetists that are senior trainees and consultants.
The workshops are a balance of plenary sessions, group work and exercises with emphasis on real life issues, open discussions, up-to-date information and will provide time for one-to-one discussions.
The Leadership and Management modules
The Essentials course will help you uncover your behavioural preferences and compare these to others, exploring how it impacts your working relationships. Learn how best to influence the Trust and your team to develop their service.
At the end of the course, you will have, under your role as a clinical leader in today’s NHS:
- Increased your understanding of how to positively influence others within your department and the Trust to develop safe and effective services
- Learnt about and had the opportunity to discuss NHS policy development, priorities and its impact on service delivery and development
- Developed understanding around the key components of a successful outline business case
- Gained insight into your own and others’ behavioural preferences and how you can utilise this to adapt your leadership style and positively impact on your working relationships
- Considered your approach to resolving differences at work and how to promote an open and transparent culture
- Reflected on learning from the programme and how to put this into practice back in the workplace.
This course will equip you with knowledge and skills you need in order to effect change successfully in your organisation.
By the end of the session you will have:
- Understood the range of ways in which individuals approach and handle both personal and organisational change
- the tools and techniques needed for planning and managing change project
- developed your own personal plan for bringing about a desired change in your workplace.
At the end of this course, participants will have:
- enhanced their understanding of how teams work through the introduction of basic tools and frameworks that can be applied to their own teams
- had the opportunity to practice working in a group setting and explore the challenges this can present
- considered the particular challenges and benefits of working in a multi-disciplinary setting.
In order to manage others, you need to understand your own management style. Learn how to make the best use of your time and making use of the resources at your disposal, in order to perform to the best of your ability in your workplace.
At the end of the course, participants will have:
- gained insight into their own personal preferences, strengths and weaknesses
- understand how they can improve or use their existing skills to increase their impact and effectiveness within their teams.
