Online application and payment for examinations
We are now able to accept online bookings for FRCA exams; to do so, simply click here, register, and follow the instructions.
Please be aware that your eligibility is based on information that you must provide to the college in advance of an application and so, if we have not received copies of certain documents you will be unable to complete an online application. These documents include: Initial Assessments of Competency (IACs) and Core Level Training Certificates (CLTCs) or their equivalents, such as MTI supervisor’s reports, NHS appraisals or ICM Stage 1 certificates. The documents that should be submitted in advance are outlined in the exam regulations.
If you need to submit your certificates, or have any other query, then please don’t hesitate to contact us on onlineservicesexams@rcoa.ac.uk.
For further information about online exam applications please visit the FAQs page.
Application Forms
Application Forms can be downloaded below. Please note the following:
- You can find opening and closing dates on the calendars.
- Applications must be received at the College by 5.00 pm on the closing date.
- Cheque, postal order or bank draft are the only forms of payment accepted. Made payable to 'The Royal College of Anaesthetists'
- Applications will not be accepted unless they are accompanied by the appropriate documents
Claiming tax adjustment for Examination Fees
The College is aware that trainees who sit FRCA examinations as part of an Anaesthetic training programme can claim tax relief on their exam fees.
As from March 2015 the College now routinely send out receipts for examination fees paid by examination candidates, by email within 5 working days of exam dates. Requests for exam fees paid before March 2015 can be made to the exams dept exams@rcoa.ac.uk.
Whilst the College cannot provide advice on how to reclaim tax or gaurantee re-imbursement for exam fees, in order to assist trainees in the reclaiming of tax adjustments for exam fees, we have provided a template (see related downloads) which can be used to request a refund of tax paid in relation to exam fees.
Online Application Services
Please be aware that Online Application Services (OLS) is not yet open. Please continue to use paper applications found in the downloads section for each examination until further notice.
