There are so many great things about being a trainee in anaesthesia; clinical care is varied and exciting, we work in large, fun teams and improvements in technology should and will allow us to work smarter not harder. But pressures such as increasing demands on time, high levels of expectation, shift working, frequent changes of place of work with relatively and actually less remuneration (financial or otherwise) than the generation above us can make training seem overwhelming.  The college can and should make our training and working lives better.

I have an interest in innovation, social media and education and I spend half of my time as an ST6 in Oxford and the other half working at the RCoA on OOPE as the technology fellow, building a new lifelong learning platform; this will replace the current e-portfolio and integrate an online logbook as well as connecting and integrating other systems (such as consultant CPD).  The role has allowed me to meet and talk to many of you across the country; I have seen what needs to be done and said to support all of us in our careers and lives; I'm ready to represent you!
