Following the birth of her children, Kirstin spent some time in part-time training and started work as a staff grade anaesthetist in 2003. She was regraded to associate specialist in 2009 and has happily worked in the same post since.

Kirstin has been an active member of the British Medical Association locally and regionally between 2003 and 2015 on behalf of staff and associate specialist (SAS) doctors. She has represented SAS colleagues locally since 2003 as a member of the LNC and as part of a revalidation and appraisal policy group. She has been appraising SAS and consultant colleagues in her trust since 2015.

Kirstin hopes to raise the profile of not only SAS doctors but also women in leadership roles.
