Dr Russell Perkins

Term of office on Council

March 2017–2023

Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital

I have been a Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist for 18 years and a proud Fellow of our Royal College for 23 years. The College has a well-deserved reputation for excellence both Nationally and Internationally and I have served as College Tutor, Examiner, Deputy and Regional Adviser. It has been a privilege to work with trainees and colleagues in these positions engendering a positive attitude to our specialty and enabling them to develop the expertise to look after patients to the best of their abilities, even in the current difficult climate. As a member of the exams committee I am involved in driving the examination of the FRCA to become the international standard of excellence that it now is.

I believe that it is now time for me to contribute to the College’s future at an even higher level. I have the ambition and forward-thinking attitude to help take the College on the path set by our President. Over the term of office I would wish to see the College achieve the goals set out in the Strategic Plan 2016-2021 and to make sure that we serve all of our members across the length and breadth of the United Kingdom.
