New appointments to the Board of the BJA

The RCoA welcomes the appointment of Professor David Lambert as Chair of the Board of the British Journal of Anaesthesia (BJA).  Professor Lambert is Professor of Anaesthetic Pharmacology at the University of Leicester’s Department of Cardiovascular Sciences. Over a twenty-year period Professor Lambert has held various positions at the BJA, including Editor, Grants Officer and Director of Administration and is the first non-clinician to chair the board.

The BJA has also recently appointed a new Editor-in-Chief, Professor Hugh Hemmings, based at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York, the first non-British EIC for the journal.

The BJA is the oldest and largest independent journal of anaesthesia, with an impact factor of 5.616. It became the journal of the RCoA in 1990. Although there are educational links between the BJA and the College, the journal retains editorial independence.
We wish Professor Lambert and Professor Hemmings all the best as they continue to develop the tradition of excellence at the BJA.
