About BJA and BJA Education (formerly CEACCP)

The following journals are published by Elsevier from January 2018 and are available free of charge to Members of the College: The British Journal of Anaesthesia (BJA), and BJA Education.

BJA remains the oldest and largest independent journal of anaesthesia and it became the journal of The College of Anaesthetists in 1990. The College was granted a Royal Charter in 1992. Although there are educational links between BJA and the College, the journal retains editorial independence. With an Impact Factor of 6.238 in 2016 the BJA is the #1 ranking journal in the field of Anaesthesiology.

Every fellow and member of the College is entitled to free online access to BJA and BJA Education.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with BJA Education and BJA 

BJA Education online offers an MCQ test for each article, for which a ‘pass’ generates a PDF certificate of completion which can be printed off or uploaded into the RCoA CPD Online Diary or another revalidation management system.

Reading BJA online also counts as an approved CPD personal activity and should be self-accredited on the basis of one CPD credit per hour. For further information, please contact cpd@rcoa.ac.uk.
