President and Vice President elections
Results of the President and Vice President 2023/24 election are as follows:
- Dr Fiona Donald was re-elected as President in May 2023, beginning her third and final term as President in September 2023.
- Dr Helgi Johannsson was re-elected as Vice President in May 2023, beginning his second and final term as Vice President in September 2023.
- Dr Claire Shannon has been appointed for a first year as Vice President in May 2023 in September 2023.
Dr Russell Perkins is stepping down as Vice President in September 2023 after two terms in office.

Election process and FAQs
If there is only one nomination for president:
- 6pm Friday 19 May: The result of the presidential election will be declared
- 9am Monday 22 May: Nominations for vice-presidents open
- 5pm Monday 22 May: Nominations for vice-presidents close
- 6pm Monday 22 May: If two nominations for vice president are received the result will be declared, OR
- 12pm Wednesday 24 May: If more than two VP nominations are received, an electronic ballot email will be sent to elected Council members
- 12pm Thursday 25 May: VP ballot closes and result declared as soon as possible
If there is more than one nomination for president:
- 6pm Friday 19 May: CEO will inform elected Council members there is to be an election for president
- 12pm Monday 22 May: An electronic ballot email for president will be sent to elected Council members
- 12pm Tuesday 23 May: The ballot for president will close and the result will be declared as soon as possible
- 9am Wednesday 24 May: Nominations for vice-president open
- 5pm Wednesday 24 May: Nominations for vice-president close
- 6pm Wednesday 24 May: If two nominations for VP are received the result will be declared
OR, if more than two nominations for VP:
- 12pm Thursday 25 May: An electronic VP ballot email will be sent to elected Council members
- 12pm Friday 26 May: VP ballot closes and result declared as soon as possible
