These protocols should be reviewed and amended when an increased risk of infectivity during aerosol generating procedures is identified to ensure the safety of patients as well as their healthcare providers. ^{17,47,47,49,50}

Facilities to allow access to online information, such as electronic patient records, local guidelines and clinical decision aids, should be available.

Perfusion services should be provided by suitably trained and accredited clinical perfusion scientists and should comply with Department of Health guidelines. A suitable number of trained perfusionists should be always available according to the recommendations for standards of monitoring during cardiopulmonary bypass.⁷

Guidelines for fasting before anaesthesia for emergency surgery should comply with national standards.¹⁸⁴

Duty of Candour guidelines must be followed.⁹⁶

The size, design and facilities of the PACU must meet the Department of Health guidelines.¹³
