Making the most of stage 2 and 3 training
An online career event, free to RCoA Members, aimed at ST4-ST7 anaesthetists in training.
This online career event, which is free for members, is designed for anaesthetists at stages 2 and 3 (ST4-ST7) in their training.
The event is focused on providing valuable information to help you make informed career choices and to advance your career path. In addition, the importance of your own wellbeing and getting the work/life balance right will be highlighted.
The day will be divided into two parts, the morning session will be an introduction to stage 2 and the afternoon session will look at stage 3, post Final FRCA. You have the option to attend all day, or just the session that is most relevant to you.
Introduction to stage 2

After the Final FRCA: Stage 3 and beyond

Where permitted, talks will be recorded and made available to delegates post event. Once registered you will have access to the recorded material for up to six months after the live event. Viewing of the recording will carry the same number of CPD points.

Pricing
Pricing Terms and Conditions
Payment must be made at the time of booking unless otherwise stated. The RCoA, FICM and FPM are unable to hold places on events without payment. Credit or debit card payments must be made online via our card payment handler Stripe, or by phone. We do not accept purchase orders or raise invoices for places on our events.
Discounts are available for some membership types at the rates stated above. You must be eligible for the discount both at the time of the booking and at the time of the event itself. We may ask for proof of your member status at any point. If you are unable to prove your entitlement to the discount we may charge you the full event rate, or invite you to update your membership status accordingly. In such a situation we may withhold access to the event until your updated payment clears, or your new membership status is confirmed.
Speakers
Dr Peeyush Kumar is a Consultant Anaesthetist at the University Hospital Coventry. He developed the 'After the Final FRCA: Making the most of ST5-ST7 training course' when he was RCoA Council member (trainee post). He was until recently, course director for the Coventry Final FRCA SOE course, which he gave up after taking up the Final FRCA examinership in 2020. Dr Kumar is the Honorary Secretary and Council member of the Society for Education in Anaesthesia (SEAUK)
His clinical interests include anaesthesia for HPB/Upper GI cancer surgery, ENT surgery and gynae-oncology surgery.
Peeyush is passionate about undergraduate and postgraduate training. He is an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Warwick, Lead for perioperative medicine teaching for the medical students at his hospital and is a trained mentor with the Association of Anaesthetists.
Dr Jon Chambers is a DGH anaesthetist who trained at University College London Medical School, qualifying in 1998. Following anaesthetic training in Cornwall, Wessex and Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, he was appointed as a consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care at Dorset County Hospital in 2008. His clinical interests include regional, colorectal, paediatric anaesthesia and critical care. He has recently completed a term as Clinical Director.
Since becoming a consultant, he has been focused on supporting and developing the future anaesthetic workforce through working as College Tutor, Guardian of Safe Working and Regional Adviser in the Wessex School of Anaesthesia
Within the RCoA he held the role of Lead Regional Adviser and was proud to have been appointed as the first RCoA Bernard Johnson Adviser for Training. In addition to his work within education and training Jon has been involved in developing the Anaesthesia Clinical Services Accreditation programme as a lead reviewer and Vice Chair of the ACSA Committee.
Elected to RCoA Council in 2024, Jon will continue to work hard to provide the environment in which all anaesthetists can be supported to develop their career, whether within a formal training programme, as an SAS anaesthetist or as a consultant.
