Educational Supervisors Structured Report (ESSR) for LLP users
The Lifelong Learning platform (LLP) allows for multiple ESSRs per year that can be completed at intervals reflective of individual training programmes, as agreed between an anaesthetist in training and an educational supervisor. These will all subsequently feed into an ARCP.
Anaesthetists in training are advised to create their ESSR after they have created all required forms that need to be pulled in. This includes any Personal Activities and the Form R.
The ESSR may show "not set" under the supervisor's name. This is because the form automatically pulls in the supervisor named on the learner's current placement, and populates the name once the ESSR has been sent. Alternatively, the College Tutor needs to be selected by the learner.
The following video was presented by Esma Doganguzel in 2024 to demonstrate the ESSR process.
Below are some FAQs relating to the ESSR functionality in the LLP.
Your Educational Supervisor details will be pulled in from your current placement when you click 'Send to Educational Supervisor'. Please ensure that you have got the correct Educational Supervisor selected in your Placement section of the LLP.
Please note you will have to select your College Tutor on the ESSR. This field is optional. You will require a CT sign off on the ESSR for it to be counted as evidence during your ARCP.
The ESSR will only pull in Form R that falls within the start date and end date.
For example, if the ESSR runs from 01/08/2021 to 02/08/2022 then the Form R would need to have a start date of 02/08/2021 and an end date before 01/08/2022.
To create an ESSR for a previous placement, follow these steps:
- Go to the Placement tab.
- Click on ‘View and Add Placement’.
- Select ‘Edit Placement’.
- Delete your current placement.
- Extend the relevant (previous) placement to a future date.
Once the ESSR has been approved, you can go back and retrospectively update your placement to reflect the correct dates.
When creating an ESSR, you are required to enter a start and end date. Only assessments or forms that are completed and approved within this date range will be included in the ESSR.
Please note the following important rule:
- The start date of any form must be at least one day after the ESSR start date.
- The end date of any form must be at least one day before the ESSR end date.
- Forms that have a start or end date that exactly matches the ESSR start or end date will not be pulled into the ESSR.
Example:
If your ESSR start date is 26 September 2025 and the end date is 26 September 2026, then only forms with:
- a start date of 27 September 2025 or later, and
- an end date of 25 September 2026 or earlier
will be pulled into the ESSR.
If any forms fall outside this range—or have start or end dates that match the ESSR's dates—you will need to create a new ESSR with adjusted dates to include them.
