The Royal College of Anaesthetists is delighted to announce that today, Dr Fiona Donald, a consultant anaesthetist at North Bristol NHS Trust, takes up office as the next President of the College. Fiona succeeds Professor Ravi Mahajan, who has been in post since 2018.

I think everyone now knows what we do and, as a result, we have increased training numbers, expanded capacity, and embedded enhanced care. My second objective was to develop international partnerships. Despite travel being restricted, embracing digital platforms afforded us the opportunity to work with the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand and the Apollo group in India.
The Perioperative Allergy Network describe the importance of collaboration between UK anaesthetists, allergists and immunologists when investigating perioperative allergies.
To celebrate Black History Month, we are inviting black anaesthetists to share their experiences, as we reflect on what more the College can do to support the theme of Time for change: actions not words.
