Effect of potential national train strikes on examinations at the Royal College of Anaesthetists

Published: 08/06/2022

The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) has announced three days of rail strikes on 21, 23 and 25 June 2022, also warning the strike will affect the national network across the whole week.

This time period corresponds with the June sitting of the Royal College of Anaesthetists’ (RCoA) national FRCA Structured Oral Examination (SOE). This exam is due to take place at our headquarters in Holborn, Central London.

While the situation is out of our control, we are in contact with all candidates who are due to take the examination to understand how many will be affected as we assess the scale of the potential disruption and formulate a plan.

We recognise might be disruptive and worrying; we are hopeful there will be a resolution to the issue and remain committed to continuing to deliver examinations and support our members. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and communicate directly to candidates when we have more information.
