Biography 

Dr Ford qualified from Bristol Medical School in 1997 and spent a period in general medicine before starting anaesthetic training in 2002 initially in the Bristol Deanery and completing in the Welsh Deanery. He was appointed a consultant in 2010 at Morriston Hospital, Swansea. He currently works as a general anaesthetist with subspecialist interests in regional and burns anaesthesia. He has an honorary role at Swansea University supporting research in prehospital regional anaesthesia

Dr Ford has served as College Tutor (2012-2016), Deputy Regional Advisor (2017-2020) and most recently Regional Advisor (2020 – Current) for the Welsh School. College work has included the Lifelong Learning Platform (LLP) Reference Group and Anaesthetic Curriculum Development and Assurance Group.

Outside of work, Simon enjoys running and coaching the local junior rugby team. He will often be found trying to keep an old campervan running to support trips to the beaches and wilds of West Wales with his wife and teenage son.
