Reasonable Adjustments for FRCA Examinations
Reasonable Adjustments for FRCA Examinations
We are committed to making our examinations as fair and accessible as possible. If you have a disability, health condition, or specific learning difference that affects how you take exams, you can apply for reasonable adjustments.
Reasonable adjustments change how you are assessed (e.g., extra time, rest breaks, a separate room, assistive technology). They do not change what is assessed or the exam standard.
Before you apply
- Who should apply: Any candidate for an FRCA examination who needs adjustments due to a disability or health condition (long-term, fluctuating, or temporary).
- Deadlines: Submit your request and evidence before you book or by the published deadline for your chosen sitting. Late requests may not be possible to accommodate.
- Evidence: You must provide recent, relevant evidence from a qualified professional (e.g., diagnostic report, medical letter). See guidance in the form for acceptable evidence.
How to apply
- Complete our Reasonable Adjustments Application Form.
- Submit all supporting evidence for all adjustments requested to ra@rcoa.ac.uk by the Reasonable Adjustment application closing date. Please state your full name in the subject line of your email.
- We will review your request and evidence. We may contact your educational supervisor or assessor if you consent.
-
We will email you our decision and the adjustments to be implemented.
Please note our processing time: A response will be sent to you within 14 working days of the reasonable adjustment booking window closing, where possible. Complex cases may take longer if we need further information.
Data Protection
The information provided in this form, and any additional supporting information that you provide, will be held by the Examinations Department at the RCoA in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2016 and Data Protection Act 2018 (C.12). Outside of this department, it will only be shared with the examination’s leadership team at the College and on occasion, the disability advisor at the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges if further discussion is needed. Reasonable Adjustments granted for written exams will be shared with TestReach (our online platform provider).
