AaE: Advanced Educational Supervision
Join us in-person for this one-day workshop which will give you time to discuss the problems and challenges of educational supervision in anaesthesia in the context of the current climate and help increase the effectiveness of the educational supervision you provide.
Join us in London for our one-day course on Advanced Educational Supervision, run in conjunction with SEAUK. The talks will cover the governance of education and revalidation of trainees alongside PTSD and return to training. If Government guidelines change, we will hold this course online on the same day.
The workshops will give participants time to discuss the problems and challenges of educational supervision in anaesthesia in the context of the current climate and help them increase the effectiveness of the educational supervision they provide.
This event is suitable for experienced Educational Supervisors, who have completed their initial training and have gained a few years’ experience (at least 2 years). It is especially suitable for those who would like an update for revalidation or who are looking to take a formal educational role within their organisations. Please note: This course is aimed at Educational Supervisors with at least 2 years experience as an ES. If you book but do not have the required experience your place may be cancelled and your fee refunded. If you are unsure please contact the events team on events@rcoa.ac.uk
The course content is mapped to the GMC’s seven domains and participation in this course will provide supporting evidence towards the GMC approval process for named educational supervisors and named clinical supervisors.

Pricing Terms and Conditions
Payment must be made at the time of booking unless otherwise stated. The RCoA, FICM and FPM are unable to hold places on events without payment. Credit or debit card payments must be made online via our card payment handler Stripe, or by phone. We do not accept purchase orders or raise invoices for places on our events.
Discounts are available for some membership types at the rates stated above. You must be eligible for the discount both at the time of the booking and at the time of the event itself. We may ask for proof of your member status at any point. If you are unable to prove your entitlement to the discount we may charge you the full event rate, or invite you to update your membership status accordingly. In such a situation we may withhold access to the event until your updated payment clears, or your new membership status is confirmed.
Speakers
Clinical Lead for AaE: Advanced Educational Supervision
Sue is a consultant anaesthetist based in a large DGH with an interest in education. She has spent time being an educational supervisor, a college tutor and is currently a TPD for West Yorkshire. Her interest in education has motivated her to complete a diploma in postgraduate clinical education, participate in trust programmes for educational supervisors and organise practise OSCE/VIVA courses, as well as trainee preparation for interviews.
Feedback
Professor Cyprian Mendonca graduated from Mysore University, India in 1987 and completed postgraduate training in Anaesthesia. In the United Kingdom he undertook Specialist Anaesthesia training from Stoke, Warwickshire and Welsh Schools of Anaesthesia. He is a consultant Anaesthetist at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, since 2001. He is an honorary professor at the University of Warwick. His special interests include head & neck anaesthesia, airway management, neuroanaesthesia, human factors and medical education.
He has organized and successfully delivered several educational courses including advanced airway management and human factors and patient safety. He is an academic lead for core clinical education at Warwick Medical School and director for Coventry airway skills lab. He is the President for the Society for Education in Anaesthesia. He has authored six books in anaesthesia and written chapters in the anaestheisa textbooks. He has published a series of papers with regard to techniques of advanced airway management and education.
