Dr Claire Shannon, President of the Royal College of Anaesthetists said:

“I would like to thank all of the candidates who put themselves forward for positions on our Council. Standing for election is no small undertaking and their willingness to do so reflects both their dedication and strength of our specialty.

“I am particularly encouraged that despite the continuing pressure on health services, so many highly capable candidates are prepared to volunteer their valuable time and expertise to the College and its membership; to help further our work for the patients those members look after. Thank you.

"Congratulations to Roger, Giovanna, Magesh, Carolyn, Orla, Felicity, and Aayushi. I look forward to working closely with all of you alongside your fellow Council members, our volunteers and staff to advance the work we are doing on behalf of our growing membership.

“I would also like to thank all members who took the time to cast their vote. The Council and its elections are central to the College’s work and it is heartening to see such strong engagement with this process.”
