Midwives and anaesthetists

I can honestly say that I’ve had the chance to work with some incredible anaesthetists, who as well as being clinically excellent, really care about the wider team and the midwives they work alongside.

"From 3am emergencies to mid-morning electives, anaesthetists are around on the Labour Suite 24/7. And when they aren’t siting epidurals, in an emergency, or in theatre, anaesthetists are often the ones sharing learning, from little snippets of good practice or on (dare I type it?!) quieter shifts, covering more in-depth topics. If ever I have a question, guaranteed anaesthetists are the ones with an answer... and if not, they’ll usually have an answer for me by the end of the shift!

"I know I am biased but the team working on Labour Suite is second to none. Whether playing their part in managing an emergency or supporting women by getting them the pain relief they’re requesting, anaesthetists are essential members of the team. I can honestly say that I’ve had the chance to work with some incredible anaesthetists, who as well as being clinically excellent, really care about the wider team and the midwives they work alongside. The mutual trust and respect I experience on a daily basis has meant I go to work looking forward to each day, feeling supported and respected and knowing I have a brilliant team behind me, of which anaesthetists play a vital part.

"So, from us Midwives to you anaesthetists, thank you for everything that you do!"
