The College is responsible for reviewing job descriptions and nominating assessors to attend Advisory Appointments Committee (AAC) panels for all non-training posts in the NHS in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man/Channel Islands.
With nominations to College Council open until 19 October 2020, Dr Claire Mallinson explains why being on Council is not only personally rewarding, but offers the chance to serve the specialty and “give something back to the profession”.

The College gives an update on conversations it has been having with the Anaesthetics National Recruitment Office (ANRO) and Health Education England (HEE), which manages ANRO, following ANRO’s handling of recruitment information for ST3 anaesthetic training posts.
The College recently released a report entitled Respect, Valued, Retained – working together to improve retention in anaesthesia, and to mark the launch our Vice President, Professor William Harrop - Griffiths hosted a roundtable with some knowledgeable and distinguished colleagues.
The College launched its publication, “Northern Ireland’s waiting list crisis: the critical role of anaesthetists,” which calls on all parties standing for election to the Northern Ireland Assembly to commit to comprehensive workforce planning and transformation of the surgical pathway.
