Introduction and Dashboard for the LLP
Introduction
The Lifelong Learning Platform (LLP) is one of the benefits of College membership. If you are a member and need access to the LLP as a trainee or supervisor, please complete the LLP account request form
Profile page
When you log in to the LLP, you’ll see your name at the top right of the screen. Click on your name to access your profile page.
It’s important that the information on this page is correct so you can get the most out of the LLP. You can update the following details yourself:
- Position (e.g. trainee, SAS doctor)
- Primary exam date
- Final exam date
- Military information
If you need to update any of the following, please complete the relevant form:
For any other changes, contact the LLP team at: lifelong@rcoa.ac.uk
You can upload your CV and download your portfolio from your profile page.
Note: Your portfolio will be downloaded in a compressed (ZIP) format. To open it, you’ll need a third-party app such as 7-Zip.
Requesting roles on the LLP
To update your roles on the LLP, please email the LLP team at lifelong@rcoa.ac.uk with the following information:
- Full name
- GMC number
- The role you are requesting
If your assessor cannot be found via the search function on the LLP, they will also need to email the LLP team with the above details to request the appropriate role.

The Dashboard on the Lifelong Learning Platform (LLP) is divided into six main sections:

FAQ
This can usually be fixed by refreshing your placement data.
- Scroll down to the Placement section on your Dashboard.
- Click Edit Placement.
- Check that all the information is correct.
- Even if no changes are needed, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
This action will refresh your data and update the progress doughnut.
This usually happens because there is already an existing placement recorded — either on the RCoA side or the FICM side of the platform — and the system does not allow placements to overlap.
To resolve this:
- Click View and Add Placement.
- Check the start and end dates of the placement you are trying to add.
- Then, check the dates of any existing placements on both the RCoA and FICM sides of the platform.
- If a placement already exists on one side (e.g. RCoA) with the same dates, you can simply replicate it to the other side.
For example: If you're adding a placement on the FICM side but already have a placement with the same dates on the RCoA side, click "Replicate Placement for FICM" to copy it across.
This will resolve the overlap and allow you to proceed.
If your Assessor or Educational Supervisor doesn’t appear in the search results, it may be because they are not currently set up on the Lifelong Learning Platform.
Please ask them to contact us directly by emailing lifelong@rcoa.ac.uk, and we will assist them in getting set up.
The ESSR automatically pulls in your Educational Supervisor from your current placement. Please make sure that:
- The correct Educational Supervisor is listed in your placement details.
- You have selected a College Tutor before submitting your ESSR for approval — this is not added automatically and must be selected manually.
To check or update this, go to your Dashboard → Placement section → Edit Placement.
Because the MSF was created during your previous placement, your former Educational Supervisor can only access it if that placement is active.
To resolve this:
- Temporarily delete your current placement.
- Extend the end date of your previous placement to a future date.
- Your previous supervisor should now be able to view and close the MSF.
- Once the MSF has been approved, don’t forget to:
- Restore your current placement by re-adding it.
- Adjust the end date of your previous placement back to its original date (if needed).
All Key Capability Domains (HALOs) listed on the Lifelong Learning Platform are part of the curriculum and cannot be removed individually.
If a HALO is not relevant to your training, you can simply ignore it. You will only be assessed on the HALOs that you actively create and submit for approval.
To link an approved SLE to a different HALO, the SLE must first be returned to Draft status. This action will remove the existing approval, and you will need to submit the SLE for approval again.
Steps:
- Click Return to Draft on the approved SLE.
- Once in Draft status, select Change Key Capabilities.
- Link the SLE to the desired HALO on the page that opens.
- Submit the SLE for approval again.
