Shape of Training Review – call for ideas and evidence

This review takes place in a rapidly changing environment and had been set up to understand and plan for the future of postgraduate medical education and training. Medical and scientific advances, evolving healthcare and population needs, changes to healthcare systems and professional roles, the push towards more care provided in the community, the information and communications technology (ICT) revolution, and changing patient and public expectations will all affect how doctors will practise in the future.

To help understand how doctors should train and work over the next 30 years the key issues have been broken into themes:

  • balance of the medical workforce
  • flexibility of training
  • patient needs
  • the breadth and scope of training

The call for ideas and evidence is now live and will continue until 8 February 2013. We would encourage you to participate in the opportunity to have your say.
