Locally Employed Doctors (LEDs) have increased in number exponentially in recent years. They represent a diverse workforce employed on local terms and conditions, bringing a wide range of skills and experience to the NHS across the UK, and not just here in north-west England where I’m based.
While most LEDs are International Medical Graduates (IMGs), there has also been a steady rise in UK graduates choosing LED posts.
The Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) greatly values the contributions of LEDs, who play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care.
