The SAS committee was set up to look after the interests of all SAS anaesthetists. It has close links with the SAS Committee of the Association of Anaesthetists (AoA), and works with the College and Council to promote all matters relating to doctors working in SAS posts and other related roles.

The Royal College of Anaesthetists is the professional body responsible for the specialty of anaesthesia throughout England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Dr Tom Pierce is the RCoA Environmental Advisor to the President, a fellow of the College, and is a cardiac anaesthetist at the University Hospital Southampton.
